Junges Ensemble Stuttgart (JES)
The Junges Ensemble Stuttgart (JES) is Stuttgart's children's and youth theater, funded by the city and state. It opened in May 2004 and has three stages in the Kulturareal unterm Turm. The theater has twice been named the best off-theater by the critics of Deutsche Bühne. With a professional acting ensemble, the JES produces five to six new productions per season and has a large repertoire of plays for children and young people. The plays are often developed by the directors together with the ensemble.
The Junges Ensemble Stuttgart regularly makes guest appearances at national and international festivals and, as the host of SCHÖNE AUSSICHT, is itself the focus of international children's and youth theater every two years.
The theater education department of the JES offers play clubs for all age groups: Children, young people, adults and senior citizens bring their own plays to the stage in the JES studios. The productions of the play clubs are an integral part of the JES repertoire and are shown in eight to ten performances each. Five to six play clubs are offered at JES each season.
