Laboratorium Stuttgart

The Laboratorium is Stuttgart's oldest live club. Since its foundation in 1972, it has been based in the former Lindensaal in Wagenburgstraße in Stuttgart's Ostend, a traditional working-class district.

The socio-cultural center Laboratorium was founded in 1972 by Heidi and Randy Schmid. Its name says it all: at Wagenburgstraße 147, artistic and political experiments have been going on ever since, new things have been tried out, risks have been taken with projects that no one knows the outcome of. Helping to shape culture, tracking down new trends and mixing the whole thing with political discourse and discussions and exploring the scope for this - that is what fascinates the active members.

Even after 40 years, it still works. The joy of creating culture has not diminished, and the mix of new, little-known but pioneering artists and old, but also good acquaintances, seems to be coherent, if the number of guests is anything to go by.
