The Märklineum & Märklin Shop Göppingen
Myth of Märklin
The world of model railways in a museum
The Märklineum in Göppingen will open its doors in 2021. The museum takes visitors through more than 160 years of the model railway manufacturer's history and brings the myth of the Märklin brand (back) to life.
Founded in 1859 by Theodor Friedrich Wilhelm Märklin, the company developed from a small factory for tin toys into today's world-renowned market leader of high-quality metal toys and especially model trains. In 1891, a model railway was presented for the first time at the Leipzig Spring Fair.
On around 2,000 square metres of exhibition space, the Märklineum presents products from the entire history of the company. Interactive media technology and creative stagings turn Märklin history into captivating experiences. The highlight of the museum is the 400 square metre model railway layout, which is accessible on two levels.
