History of VfB Stuttgart
Verein für Bewegungsspiele Stuttgart 1893 e. V. was founded in 1912 through the merger of the two clubs "Fußballverein Stuttgart" and "Kronen-Club Cannstatt". Over the years, VfB developed into one of the most successful German soccer clubs.
The club's most famous players include Robert Schlienz, Günther Sawitzki, Karl Bögelein, Rolf Geiger and Erwin Waldner, who wore the jersey with the chest ring before the Bundesliga was founded. But also Karl Allgöwer, Karlheinz Förster, Hansi Müller, Guido Buchwald and Jürgen Klinsmann from the teams that played for VfB in the newly founded Bundesliga from 1963.
Other departments of the club besides soccer are athletics, field hockey, table tennis, fistball and refereeing.
