Villa Reitzenstein

Villa Reitzenstein is a house with a history. Between 1910 and 1913, Helene Freifrau von Reitzenstein, daughter of a Stuttgart publisher and widow of the Württemberg Lord Chamberlain Carl von Reitzenstein, was the owner. She had the architects Hugo Schlösser and Johann Weirether construct a stately building on the two-and-a-half hectare site in the east of Stuttgart. In 1921, she sold the villa to the Würrtemberg state. During the Weimar Republic and National Socialism, the house was the political centre of the state. Villa Reitzenstein has been the official residence of the Minister President and the Baden-Württemberg State Ministry since 1952. Between 2013 and 2016, the villa was extensively renovated and modernised, taking into account both the historical and functional requirements of a government building.
