The Bach Consort Vienna presents operas, choral works and chamber music by Bach and other European Baroque composers, as well as music from Latin America, in exciting programs at the best festivals and in the most famous concert halls. This is due not least to its artistic director Rubén Dubrovsky, born in Buenos Aires to a Polish-Italian family of musicians.
With "Sarabanda", his ensemble brings the music of Claudio Monteverdi (1567 - 1643) and his contemporary Gaspar Fernández (around 1570 - 1629) into dialog. Italian madrigals, psalms and hymns by Monteverdi meet villancicos by Fernández from Mexico, which fuse local languages, songs of the African slaves, Sephardic and Christian elements: a musical encounter with special timbres and accents.
