The invention of the first planetarium projector celebrates its centenary. Commissioned by the Deutsches Museum in Munich, the Carl Zeiss company in Jena developed the first celestial simulator

.artificial stars shone for the first time on the dome in Munich on May 7, 1923 and the first public demonstrations took place in the Deutsches Museum on October 21, 1925.

today there are thousands of planetariums around the world and between 2023 and 2025 they will celebrate the origin of the underlying invention, which was reverently called the "Miracle of Jena" at the time.

after a detailed look at the artificial starry sky, we look at the history of the planetarium's origins. Along high-resolution 360° images and dome-filling animations, the audience embarks on a cultural and historical journey in the production "100 Years of Eternity", whose individual paths converged in Jena a hundred years ago.
