Exactly 300 years ago (1724 - 25), Bach dedicated himself to composing choral cantatas, which he performed every Sunday in church. The first of three concerts by the JSB Ensemble at the HMDK Stuttgart will therefore begin with the choral cantata "Jesu, der du meine Seele" based on a Passion song by Johannes Rist (1641) under the direction of Kathy Saltzman Romey.
The experienced choral conductor, professor at the University of Minnesota, conducts the choir of the city orchestra there and has worked with major ensembles and conductors in America and Europe. As a teacher of the JSB Ensemble, she has been closely associated with the Bach Academy for many years.
