Drama in English
The American Drama Group Europe is once again presenting Charles Dickens' famous Christmas tale in English, in which the old miser Ebenezer Scrooge becomes a kind-hearted man on Christmas night.
Unimpressed by any Christmas spirit, Scrooge sits in his office on Christmas Eve. He behaves pettily and maliciously towards his poor clerk Bob Cratchit. He also refuses his nephew Pred's well-meaning invitation to Christmas dinner and chases away a few supplicants who want to collect money for charity. Later, he is haunted by the ghost of Marley, his deceased former business partner, and by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. They show him the happiness he has missed out on through greed and selfishness. But they also show him the loneliness in which he will die if he does not mend his ways first. Scenes from his childhood appear before his eyes, as well as the Christmas household of his nephew and that of his employee. Deeply affected by this, he changes from a heartless egotist to a model of generosity; the spiteful old man becomes a favorite of adults and children.
