ALEXANDER ’SANDI’ KUHN QUARTETT / MEANDERING AND MORE

On his latest album 'MEANDERING', the multi-award-winning saxophonist and composer Alexander 'Sandi' Kuhn (winner of the Baden-Württemberg State Jazz Prize, among others) follows the musical paths of his home city of Stuttgart.

Selected places, together with their people, objects and moods, serve as the basic impulses for his new compositions and are brought to life musically. On his fourth release, Sandi Kuhn again fuses American and European influences with great ease and creates 'songs' that bear his very own signature with strong melodies, harmonic finesse and a large portion of soul: sometimes sensual and soulful, sometimes rousingly modern, always with depth and charisma.
With the Cologne pianist Volker Engelberth (also BW Jazz Prize winner), the Stuttgart bassist Jens Loh and the Wiesbaden drummer Axel Pape, Kuhn once again gathers his top-class musical companions around him on 'MEANDERING'. The quartet has developed steadily over the past ten years as a permanent 'working band'. The four musicians put their playing unconditionally at the service of the music and interact with blind trust and great joy in playing, without revealing their individuality. They already have some new compositions in their luggage.
