It is one of the most famous stories in world literature. The White Rabbit, the Mad Hatter, the Queen of Hearts, the Smoking Caterpillar and the Cheshire Cat are iconic characters from the book published in 1865. In addition, Caroll's ingenious wit and the unique logic of his fantasy world make this text so unique. The story of the girl Alice, who follows the White Rabbit into Wonderland, is deeply engraved in the collective consciousness, not least due to countless quotations in pop culture (the evening will document this with numerous songs!)...
Caught up in the conventions of English society and those of his profession as a lecturer in mathematics and logic, Lewis Carroll celebrated the anarchic power of childish nonsense in "Alice in Wonderland". It is funny, sad and bitter at the same time, and the question arises: What is Wonderland actually? Who would Alice be today? Where exactly does she end up? Is this world into which she falls really childishly innocent or is there not something disturbingly violent underneath it all?
