Sofia Andrukhovych, Ukrainian essayist, translator and author, who made her breakthrough in 2014 with her novel "The Paper Boy", deals with Ukrainian history in her three-volume work "Amadoka". Last year, Sofia Andrukhovych and her translators Maria Weissenböck and Alexander Kratochvil were awarded the International Hermann Hesse Prize for their translation of this trilogy from Ukrainian into German. In her third volume, "The Story of Sofia", she tells of a passionate, secret love in the shadow of world politics and of the Ukrainian struggle against Soviet Russian supremacy. In the face of growing Russian imperialism, it is more important than ever to engage with Ukraine and its history and to listen to Ukrainian voices.
