Accordion trance with Finn Anne-Mari Kivimäki and her trio on the Lab stage.

Anne-Mari Kivimäki, who graduated from the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki in 2018 with a doctorate in the musical "Laboratory of Traditions", has immersed herself deeply in the Karelian accordion tradition. Her music combines a hypnotic heartbeat, crackling archive recordings and the sound of the yearning Soviet notka accordion. Together with kantele, double bass and vocals, this creates a unique soundscape. You can hear the howling of the north wind whistling through ancient melodies and new compositions.
Her ensemble plays music from the project "Extinguished Village", which won the German Record Critics' Award in Germany in 2016, was shortlisted for the Finnish Emma Award and was named Folk Music Record of the Year. Anne-Mari Kivimäki was chosen as a showcase artist by Folk Alliance New Orleans, USA, in 2020 and by Arctic Paradise (Helsinki, Finland) in 2016.
