The brains behind the Band in the BIX are drummer Meinhard "Obi" Jenne, who regularly invites guest musicians from all over Germany to join the regular line-up, thus pursuing his idea of an open community among jazz musicians, and saxophonist and arranger Libor Šíma.
The list of musicians invited to perform reads like a "who's who" of the German scene - in addition to established jazz musicians, "rising stars" are also regularly invited. This means that new interpretations are always possible, important composers are introduced and other musical theme evenings are always a unique experience. The band's playing culture is based on the jazz tradition; the music of the great old masters is interpreted with the spirit of modern jazz in a stylistically confident and energetic manner, without ever losing the freedom of this music.

On this Good Friday, you can look forward to a selected playlist and a program that goes into the depths of the music - from smoky ballads, earthy blues themes and creative improvisations to songs that will immerse you in the atmosphere of jazz and blues.
