BEETHOVN
Beethoven's 250th birthday in 2020 was an occasion to market him on a grand scale and to examine him scientifically. The author and journalist Albrecht Selge chose a special, original approach in the anniversary year: in his novel "Beethovn" (sic!), the master himself does not have his say at all, but is told exclusively from the perspectives of others. In our Beethoven Night, Selge takes an entertaining and refreshingly different look at the composer we are supposedly so familiar with.
The Stuttgart pianist Maximilian Schairer made his debut with the Philharmoniker in 2019. Critics describe the versatile young artist, who has been awarded the title of "Steinway Artist" and several first prizes at festivals/competitions in Europe and the USA, as having "a sense of sound and understanding, astonishing musical intelligence".
