Members of the Stuttgart Philharmonic
When 2020 marked the 250th anniversary of Beethoven's birth, his image was omnipresent, recordings were released in anniversary editions and "Beethoven" was marketed in grand style - not inappropriate to the importance of the Bonn master. The writer and journalist Albrecht Selge chose a special, original approach in the anniversary year. In his novel "Beethoven" (sic!), the master himself does not have his say at all, but rather the perspectives of his contemporaries on him take center stage. In our Beethoven Night, Selge will take an entertaining and refreshingly different look at the composer we seem so familiar with.
The Stuttgart pianist Maximilian Schairer already made his debut with the Stuttgart Philharmonic in 2019. Critics describe the versatile young artist, who has been awarded the title of "Steinway Artist" and several first prizes at festivals/competitions in Europe and the USA, as having "a sense of sound and understanding, astonishing musical intelligence". He performs as a chamber music partner with various ensembles, including the Stuttgart State Orchestra or as a guest pianist with the Beethoven Trio Bonn. Social commitment at charity concerts is just as important to him as inspiring young audiences for classical music at school workshops.
