"Protect me further than you can write" is an exchange of letters by artists Anna Gohmert and Cy Linke about safe spaces, bodies and threats. Gohmert writes from the cis-female perspective of a care-taker, Linke from a queer non-binary trans* perspective. The correspondence takes place in the spring of 2025 and deals with political developments of the time, the survival experiences of the two as well as protective spaces and threats to literature: Can literature be a protective space? When does literature become a threat and for whom? Is writing a luxury because it requires temporary safe spaces? And if this is the case, how do we relate to the discrepancies between lived experiences and the texts that are found about shelters, bodies and threats?
