Casa Río: Die Lehren der Flut

Casa Río is an ecological activist NGO that uses art as a transformative practice in grassroots communities. Casa Río is first and foremost a real place - a "River House" and a "Building Power Lab" - in the midst of many alternative communities at the mouth of the Río de la Plata in Argentina, a short train ride south of Buenos Aires. It is also part of Wetlands Without Borders, a basin-wide alliance whose struggle for a diverse population and alternative forms of development goes back thirty years. "Teachings of the Flood", an extension of the "Rivermap" atmosphere at Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, offers a special look at the watershed today, after three decades of rapacious neoliberal development on the "soybean front" that is pushing entire Latin American biomes into the world market.
