Dagmar Manz-Wodarg: An artist in harmony with nature.
Leverkusen-born artist Dagmar Manz-Wodarg (*1938) can look back on a remarkable artistic career that began promisingly at a young age. Her artistic development is deeply rooted in the observation of nature - in the movement of the wind, in listening to silence and in experiencing spatial dimensions.
At the age of 18, she enrolled at the Düsseldorf Art Academy, where she studied stage design and painting under important professors such as Theo Ott, Meistermann, Faßbender and Coester. It was here that she developed her characteristic artistic style: from drawings to paintings to abstract depictions.
Wassily Kandinsky's work inspired Manz-Wodarg to understand color as an independent
means of expression. In his works, she discovered a symphony of movement, music and color harmonies that had a lasting impact on her artistic creativity.
To this day, her preference is for working with colored pencils.
Even at the age of 86, Dagmar Manz-Wodarg has lost none of her artistic passion. Her works are testimony to a lifelong exploration of color, space and movement.
