In Johann Wolfgang von Goethe's ballad The Sorcerer's Apprentice, the title character tries out magic without permission in the absence of his master and fails catastrophically. A description of an old, well-known conflict between the generations: Youth tries its hand at new forms, fails, learns and hopes to perform the magic itself in old age. But what if time brings forth a youth that wants above all to hold the magicians to account?
