The ever faster throughput of products eats up resources and causes the volume of waste to continue to swell. What options do designers have to counteract this and what responsibility do they themselves bear for these developments?

Countless new products come onto the market every day - from televisions and the latest cell phones to T-shirts costing just a few euros. Many of these products only have a short lifespan. Some quickly lose favor, others prove to be less durable. This ever faster turnover of products eats up resources and increases the volume of waste. What options do designers have to counteract this and what responsibility do they themselves bear for these developments?

As part of the Design and Ethics series.
