The soul of the forest
A magical film journey through Germany's forests
Live film presentation by and with Stefan Erdmann
Nature filmmaker Stefan Erdmann has been on the road with his cameras for many years, exploring and filming Germany's diverse forest landscapes in fabulous atmospheres. He has brought together the essence of his recordings in a unique film project with outstanding image and sound quality. He comments on his presentation personally and live in front of the big screen. The soundtrack was composed especially for the lecture.
Stefan Erdmann is out and about in the forest at all times of the year, even in gale-force winds and biting sub-zero temperatures, to capture special moments: dramatic cloudscapes reflected in the perfect mirror of a forest lake, ice-armored trees groaning in a snowstorm, glowing carpets of wild garlic from which mystical morning mist rises or thousands of cranes flying through the blood-red disc of the sun as if pulled by a thread. These are magical moments that he captures in the Lüneburg Heath, the Teutoburg Forest, the Jasmund National Park or on the slopes of the Alps. Through the beauty of nature alone, he succeeds in showing how fundamental the preservation of the forest is for us and future generations. His presentation is a tribute to our forest and an acoustic and visual experience that is guaranteed to give you goosebumps!
Stefan Erdmann
Stefan Erdmann is a trained typographer and graphic designer. For over 25 years, he has been traveling the world as a freelance filmmaker with his very own signature style. His calm camera work and unusual visual language, as well as his sensitive and informative commentary, enable him to make viewers feel part of the action. Erdmann always makes all his films alone (camera, editing, art work). He composes and produces the music together with Hamburg-based film music composer Jens Lück.
He says about his way of working: "Being in constant motion and letting myself be guided by curiosity and the desire to discover and experience is my way of being on the road. I always let myself be driven by wind, weather and my intuition in order to be in the right place at the right time with my cameras
