YOU ARE MY MOTHER
by Joop Admiraal (German by Monika The)

On June 15, 2004, this play premiered at the Theaterhaus with Stephan Moos as the actor. Now, 16 years later, after a revision of the play, Stephan Moos will once again bring his great acting versatility to the stage. He, the son, visits his mother in a nursing home. The habit of the weekly meeting with its unchanging ritual is lost in an intense, loving dialogue, overlaid with quiet humor and a melancholy mood. The drama gains its impressive form through the portrayal of mother and son by an actor. First performed in Amsterdam in 1981, the play has lost none of its significance. The need of the elderly for help, their dependence on relatives, the growing lack of interest in life and the controversy surrounding the premature termination of the process of decline are topics that have become even more explosive since the play was written and have taken on a new, urgent topicality in times of Corona.

"It is a sophisticated interplay between the characters that requires the utmost concentration and precision. Stephan Moss gets every detail right ... 'Du bist meine Mutter' is also pure acting, exciting theater with interesting characters."
Stuttgarter Zeitung from 18.06.2004
