Käthe Kollwitz characterized the nature and expressions of Parisian working-class women at the beginning of the 20th century as "genuine and undisguised". In her diary entries, Kollwitz writes admiringly about the courage, strength and devotion of these women. She approaches them with empathy, capturing their feelings in her artistic depictions. These works are deeply touching and full of respect, while at the same time carrying heaviness, pain and accusatory social criticism.
Fiona Haselgruber reads selected diary entries: Texts that reveal Kollwitz' thoughts and reflections and allow the artist to speak for herself and her art; texts for an evening that focuses on the artist as a woman. Projections provide insights into Käthe Kollwitz' prints. Nils Becker will provide musical accompaniment on the double bass.
