Dance, live music and live projections
"I am not in a Room" is based on a series of improvisations by musician Charlotte Wilde and Taiwanese dancer Kai Chun Chuang during the lockdown last winter. The evening is based on the biography and work of the American poet Emily Dickinson. Dickinson's poems, written a century and a half ago and as perceptive as they are sensual, reflect central themes of our present day: her thought and poetic space is characterized at its core by the permeability of cultural boundaries. Her deep, unifying understanding of nature anticipates ecological perspectives that are taken for granted today. Her idea of complete individuation forms a provocative counter-proposal to self-segregation and isolation.
