Concert with students from the Stuttgart University of Music
Music is there to be heard. Unlike other art forms, music remains silent and invisible if it is not played or available as a recording. Over time, it falls into oblivion - and with it the people who created this music.
The idea behind "Eine Stimme geben" is to give a voice to composers who have largely been forgotten and who were silenced by the tyranny of the National Socialists in Germany. Young singers and pianists from Prof. Götz Payer's class at the State University of Music and Performing Arts Stuttgart lend their "voice" to these composers and interpret their songs. In doing so, they are helping to protect the works and their creators from being forgotten and to remember them. The important engagement of young musicians in particular with this dark chapter of German music history contributes to a lively culture of remembrance.
