Songs are not just for entertainment. They also record collective memories and pass them down through the generations. In its programs, Sospiratem ("sighing breath") takes on the world of songs and brings them to us in the tart, beautiful sound of the Renaissance. The thematic spectrum is as broad as human existence: idyllic nature, joie de vivre, but also suffering and misery caused by crop failure or war. What we will hear was composed between 1520 and 1660 and is offered to us by experts on this period who came together in Leipzig a good decade ago. Your first hour performance!
