ETTA SCOLLO - ORA

Being in the now: This is wisdom that has been taught for thousands of years. But in these times of crisis and war, is the "now" really worth striving for? With her new album "Ora", Sicilian Etta Scollo provides an answer that is as clear as it is musically multi-layered. Together with star producer Taketo Gohara, she has created an album in her first home of Catania Gohara that is poetically and politically moving - and radiates hope.

Musically, "Ora" captures an entire universe: there are pieces that are very tender and pure, with just a guitar. Melodies from the Sicilian tradition. Swirling waltzes, ironically broken six-eighth bars. In between, electronic textures. The compositions have rough edges, musical breaks keep the music in an exciting balance - and in the present.

This is particularly noticeable live. Etta Scollo lives her music. Together with Zoé Cartier (cello) and Daniel Moheit (accordion), she turns ORA into a courageous commitment to existence. Etta Scollo sings, plays and tells of courage, but also of the desire to live and love without hesitation. Because the now is what we have. Just as the title track of "Ora" says: "It's time to be - now, now, now ...".
