Field Commander C. is a tribute to the great Canadian singer-songwriter Leonard Cohen. The ten-piece band plays classics such as "Suzanne", "Sisters Of Mercy", "So Long Marianne" and "Famous Blue Raincoat" with impressive virtuosity and unstoppable enthusiasm. Blue Raincoat".
The idea for Field Commander C. was born shortly after the death of Leonard Cohen at the end of 2016, with the live album "Field Commander Cohen: Tour of 1979" serving as the namesake and model. Musician and film producer Rolf Ableiter is at the forefront of this, performing Cohen's mostly melancholy timbres in an authentic and unique way.
The nine musicians in the band also touch the audience with their rousing style when they interpret the songs in the spirit of their time of origin. Rolf Ableiter was keen to play with the same line-up as Cohen did on his 1979 tour. However, Ableiter and his musical comrades-in-arms do not reduce Cohen to his music alone. This concert evening is also a short excursion into the world of his beautiful lyrics, poems and thoughts.
