80 years since the end of the war - a round table discussion. With the historian Dr. Alina Just, the author and journalist Hilke Lorenz and the writer Simone Kucher. Moderation: Silke Arning
Women have always played an important role in popular images of the flight and expulsion of Germans from Eastern Europe - but often in stereotypical and generally passive roles. The panel with voices from the fields of history, journalism and literature counters this with a focus on female actors. How do the experiences of flight and expulsion of women and girls differ from those of men? What scope for action did they have during their flight and after arriving in their "new home"? To what extent have women's memories and the way society deals with them changed over the past 80 years?
With:
Dr. Alina Just, historian, Research Centre for Contemporary History Hamburg
Hilke Lorenz, author and journalist
Simone Kucher, writer
Moderator: Silke Arning, SWR
