or is the social network social or asocial?
by Lutz Hübner and Sarah Nemitz
A young man disillusioned with politics meets an established local politician in his aunt's hairdressing salon. The candidate for mayor has had an accident and the victim is the hairdresser's son. The single small business owner doesn't know what to do. She is therefore open to the local politician's offer of support.
However, her nephew raises the question of whether the candidate for mayor is not simply trying to clear himself of a blemish in his election campaign. He raises the question of guilt, sees that the time has come when "justice" should finally prevail between the "disadvantaged" and the "established", and even threatens to mobilize against the candidate on the Internet.
Distrust of politicians runs deep. The play by Lutz Hübner and Sarah Nemitz sparks a long overdue debate on precisely this issue: Where does the mistrust of politics come from? What do the internet and social networks have to do with it?
