G. Puccini: Messa di Gloria

Location:
Kath. Kirche St. Josef Feuerbach, Oswald-Hesse-Straße 76, 70469 Stuttgart
Date
March 29, 2025, 7:30 PM

The "Messa di Gloria" by Giacomo Puccini, a masterpiece of Italian Romanticism, is complemented by three extraordinary compositions that have not yet been heard in Germany - works by Santi Vallini, born in Lucca in 1827, and his son Pietro Vallini, born in 1857.

Santi Vallini, a composer forgotten through the turmoil of history, was a pupil of Giacomo Puccini's father Michele Puccini (1813-1864). His "Introitus" and his "Mottetto", both for choir and large symphonic orchestra, will be performed for the first time in Germany.
His son Pietro Vallini (1857-1932) will perform an "Ave Maria" for tenor solo and orchestra. Pietro Vallini was only one year older than Giacomo Puccini, who was born in 1858, and therefore belonged to the same era and the same style of "versismo".
This evening is made all the more brilliant by the participation of our "Singing Mice of St. Joseph".
Admission is € 15 (reduced € 10) in advance and € 20 (reduced € 15) at the box office.
