Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 2 in C minor and Samuel Barber Adagio for Strings
On the initiative of the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra, two commemorative concerts are held to mark the end of World War II on May 8, 1945. Choral singers from France, Poland and Germany take part, conducted by an American-Israeli conductor - as a sign that we should never stop striving for understanding between nations. Anyone who has ever participated in an international ensemble knows what music can do: That all singers and musicians, regardless of their origin and mother tongue, strive together for art and encounter texts such as this one by Klopstock: "Aufersteh'n, ja aufersteh'n wirst du, mein Staub, nach kurzer Ruh! Immortal life!"
