The Armenian Community of Baden-Württemberg (AGBW) invites you to a commemorative event with a concert by the Komitas Chamber Orchestra Gyumri on the occasion of the 110th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide. With works by Elgar, Britten, Mirzoyan, Komitas and others.

The Komitas Chamber Orchestra, founded in Gyumri, Armenia, in 2019, consists of around 20 teachers and students from the Komitas Conservatory in Gyumri. Named after Komitas Vardapet (1869-1935), the founder of classical Armenian music, the ensemble presents a program that connects worlds under the direction of Aram Badalian: Works by Edward Elgar and Benjamin Britten meet miniatures for string orchestra by Komitas, Mirzoyan and Babajanian.

A short lecture by Prof. Dr. Kristin Platt (University of Bochum) and a prayer of intercession by Rev. Dr. Diradur Sardaryan will commemorate the victims of the genocide of 1915.

Donations are requested.
