Theater maker Volker Lösch, millionaire heiress Marlene Engelhorn and actress Marlene Reiter approach the topic of inequality from a new perspective: together they perform a theatrical attack on excess wealth.
GELD IST KLASSE is about wealth and power, inequality and excess wealth, money and justice, the good life for all and how it can really be.
Together with the author Lothar Kittstein, Engelhorn, Reiter and Lösch are developing a play that covers the entire spectrum of the topic, from the origins of inequality to the tricks used to camouflage wealth and immunize it against criticism, the dangers to democracy, the potential for violence of unregulated wealth and the possibilities for change. Documentary sections, personal stories and fictional play scenes combine to form a hybrid whole that is intended to do one thing above all: A desire for change.
Through the innovative approach of describing the problem from the perspective of the rich, and with a protagonist who, as the first super-rich person on a theater stage, provides self-critical insights into the closed-off world of the super-wealthy, MONEY IS CLASSY makes the cognitive process vivid and shows that change can only be achieved together - the poor, the rich and politicians must become equally active.
