Under the title "Together: Anna & Bernhard Blume - Retrospective", Galerie ABTART is now presenting an extensive retrospective in south-west Germany for the first time in collaboration with the Blume estate (Cologne) and the Kunsthalle Krems (Austria). What makes the Blumes' paintings so astonishing is that, decades after their realization, they seem more relevant than ever against the backdrop of a highly endangered world. It has become a truism that the familiar world has long since fallen apart at the seams. Back then, people laughed at the scenarios of memorable circumstances captured in extensive large-scale series and the slapstick-like struggle of the artists. Today this is also possible. Although the knowledge of the real conditions makes the laughter freeze.
