Talking about life also means questioning norms and asking who or what defines the normative: What do we consider to be a successful life? In her novel "Gespensterfische", Svealena Kutschke, born in Lübeck in 1977, uses a fascinating cast of characters to tell the story of psychiatry as a place where deep vulnerability pushes humanity to its limits. And as a place that became a gateway to violence, particularly during the National Socialist era and in the post-war period.
