The "Glanzlichter Stuttgart", staged by Stuttgart-Marketing GmbH, create an atmospheric ambience in Stuttgart's city centre. Schlossplatz, Königstraße and Schulstraße shine in a sustainable way: energy-saving LED lighting and the use of 100% green electricity by the Stadtwerke Stuttgart ensure that the city is illuminated in an environmentally conscious way.
The installations, which are up to eight metres high, represent the city's tourist landmarks. The Stuttgart Rössle is known from the city's coat of arms. A Mercedes 300 SL Gullwing and a Porsche 911 are representative of the two automobile museums, the elephant represents Wilhelma and the Ferris wheel symbolises the Cannstatt folk festival. Against the impressive backdrop of the New Palace, a light and sound show will take place every half hour and every hour on the hour. The Jubilee Column with Concordia is also integrated into the lighting concept and shines particularly brightly during the shows.
From the central station to Rotebühlplatz: for the festive lighting of the 1.2 kilometre long Königstraße, around 110 trees in the shopping street are clad in thousands of energy-saving LED lights, which make them glow in warm white light from dusk. A sky of lights also shines over Schulstraße once again - 29,000 LED light points and small light curtains on the sides give the street a festive ambience.
The light figures light up Sunday-Thursday from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. The light and sound show takes place every full and half hour. Sunday-Thursday between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m.
Königsstraße is illuminated daily from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. to midnight.
