Hausforschertag: Grüner wirds nicht! – Ein Haus aus Pflanzen

Location:
StadtPalais - Museum für Stuttgart, Konrad-Adenauer-Straße 2, 70173 Stuttgart
Date

It's May, it's growing and greening outside. In some houses too! Wait a minute - houses? Are there living buildings?

There is actually a construction method in which living and technical parts are connected. And grow together! We discover green towers and bridges, tree facades or buildings in city parks. These leafy canopies are real oases for the city. The advantages of a tree are all included: improving the urban climate, providing a habitat for animals - and being able to change with the seasons. Plants can therefore support buildings and take on a structural role. Now you might want to know whether plants can grow in a controlled manner, how they can be connected and whether this works in a densely built-up city? There are a few tricks from horticulture and civil engineering...

Whether you're building a lookout in a wildlife park or a three-storey city park: we'll try out how green branches and your ideas can be turned into a creative structure, in combination with ready-made components such as wire and wooden sticks. The model can of course be taken home at the end.
