To commemorate the Peasants' War, the Stuttgart Main State Archive is presenting a special exhibition entitled "Duke Ulrich and the Peasants in the War of 1525". The exhibition focuses on the political, economic and religious tensions that led to a bloody uprising in 1525, which went down in history as the Peasants' War.

The exhibition focuses on the role of Württemberg and Stuttgart as well as the unusual constellation of Duke Ulrich von Württemberg (1487-1550) and the rebellious peasants. The Duke, who had previously been expelled from his land, formed an alliance with the peasants in order to regain his rule. However, the alliance failed dramatically.

The exhibition sheds light on the background and effects of this historical event with a special focus on the Swabia region.
