Hofesh Shechter Company: Theatre of Dreams

Hofesh Shechter sends his young savages into the realm of dreams: curtains open and close, revealing surreal scenes, fears and longings take hold of the nocturnal city folk. A dreamscape is created on stage in flashes of lightning, with ever new images flickering in the aisles of light. The London choreographer dances deep into the subconscious, setting hypnotic images against the hard rhythms pulsating beneath the surface. A band plays bossa nova, a sad love song wafts through the hall of mirrors of associations and Generation Z marvels at itself in a springy, flowing dance. The theater of dreams becomes a dark world theater; naturally, despair flares up for the Israeli Shechter in the Middle East, where the dream of peaceful coexistence seems to be over forever. Curtain up for Hofesh Shechter, who transforms his audience into a euphorically surging community to dance against all the suffering.
