"Materia" is a choreography for a human being and polystyrene in various forms. The production explores the possibilities of this ubiquitous material in our everyday lives to the point where it comes to life and becomes the protagonist of the action on stage. The player accompanies his material through all phases of hesitation, resistance, feather-light mobility and powerful grandeur. It drifts through calm and darkness, alternating between discovery and destruction. A work of poetic magic.
Berlin-based Italian Andrea Salustri trained as a juggler in Rome before studying dance and choreography in Berlin. Winner of the European circus label "circusnext", "Materia" was a hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022.
