Chiara Marchese belongs to the generation of young circus artists who integrate their art into narrative contexts and open up completely new physical dimensions to the theater.
In an unusual combination of rope artistry and puppetry, "The Weight of the Soul" tells of fear and self-confidence, fragility and balance. The balancing act on the rope, the naked body of the performer, the life-size double made of iron wire: all these signs of fragility create a suggestive landscape of instability. As spectators, we are drawn into a swirling narrative with thousands of outstretched threads that confronts us with what we are (not only) in times of crisis: our worst enemy and our best ally.
The production was awarded the European circus label "circusnext" in 2021.
