The Landesjugendchor Baden-Württemberg is a project choir sponsored by the state of Baden-Württemberg for young people aged 15 to 25.
The young singers usually meet twice a year for intensive rehearsal weeks and work on a program that is performed in three concerts at the end of each phase.
Since 1979, over 1000 young people have been able to sing in the Landesjugendchor.
A German Requiem by Johannes Brahms is performed in the piano version with over 80 young singers.
The German Requiem by Johannes Brahms is a monumental work that was composed between 1865 and 1868 and is considered one of the most important works of organ and choral music of the 19th century. In contrast to traditional requiems, Brahms does not address God directly in his work, but addresses the consolation and hope of the bereaved, which gives it a deeply human and comforting dimension. With its mixture of lyrical, majestic and dramatic passages, the Requiem creates an impressive sound world that is both spiritually and emotionally moving.
