Like a movie, an intense urge to urinate can take over our entire consciousness for a while - with a clearly predetermined end: the emptying of the bladder. But when, where and how voluntarily this end occurs remains open at first. In this room for maneuver, the bubble becomes an image for game dynamics in which this contingency between the rules can be experienced. The exhibition shows works by Janis Eckhardt that focus on pulling - in play, in the body, in knowledge.
Janis Eckhardt is a visual artist with a focus on time-based media. After studying at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste Stuttgart, followed by a studio scholarship at the Künstlerhaus Stuttgart, he continued his education at the Sandberg Instituut in Amsterdam, funded by the DAAD. In his artistic practice, Janis Eckhardt deals with themes such as contingency, identity, fragility, masculinities and resistance.
