"Je dunkler die Nacht, desto heller die Sterne" - Lesung und Lieder für Friedrich Schlotterbeck
- Location:
- Theaterhaus, Siemensstr. 11, 70469 Stuttgart
On July 5, 1944, Friedrich Schlotterbeck (1909-1979) was the only member of the resistance group to escape to Switzerland. In his harrowing biography "The darker the night, the brighter the stars", he recounts his life in resistance and captivity.
Five members of the group did not reach Switzerland; they were arrested by the Gestapo along with the entire Schlotterbeck family and murdered in Dachau on November 30, 1944. Only Karl Stäbler from the group was able to hide for months until the end of the war in a vineyard cottage near Luginsland.
The "Schlotterbeck Group" was a circle of courageous Stuttgart residents, mostly communists, who had resisted the Nazis at great risk since 1933. Today we can be proud of the courage of these people.
