JJ Thames & Luca Giordano Band

JJ Thames mixes R&B, funk, Motown and soul with strong blues and gospel vocals and occasionally adds ska and reggae rhythms for spice. "Hurricane Thames" will be supported by Luca Giordano and his band at their concert in the Laboratorium.

Called the "future of the blues" by legendary "Misty Blue" artist Dorothy Moore and affectionately referred to as "Hurricane Thames" by musicians who have supported her on tour, JJ's voice and humorous, passionate stage presence often elicit goosebumps, tears, laughter, encores and standing ovations.

Her story reads like a classic Hollywood biopic, full of early successes and tragic losses and a seemingly predestined turn towards a career as a musician. Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Thames demonstrated her musical abilities as a child. With the support of her parents, she became a singer and studied music, particularly piano and classical and jazz vocal technique. The musical foundation for JJ's show is provided by Italian guitarist Luca Giordano and his band.
