Johann Sebastian Bach: H-Moll Messe
- Location:
- Domkirche St. Eberhard, Königstraße 7a, 70173 Stuttgart
After 55 years of working together, the Württemberg Chamber Choir has to let its artistic director Prof. Dieter Kurz go into well-deserved retirement. Kurz has built up the choir to the highest artistic level since it was founded in 1970. Under his direction, the ensemble quickly established a firm place for itself in the cultural scene beyond the borders of Stuttgart and Baden-Württemberg.
In his honor, the Württemberg Chamber Choir would like to give Dieter Kurz another glittering concert experience: Bach's Mass in B minor is considered one of the most important sacred compositions of the Baroque era. It is Bach's last choral work and also his most extensive Latin church work. In addition to impressive new compositions, the mass also contains extensive reworkings of earlier, particularly successful works. In his decades of work, Bach thus creates a special density of compositionally outstanding music, which requires music-making at the highest level. This piece is therefore often referred to as Bach's musical legacy and the summary of his creative output.
No other work seems better suited to bid farewell to Dieter Kurz and usher in a new era for the Württemberg Chamber Choir.
