- Location:
- Stiftskirche Stuttgart, Stiftsstraße 12, 70182 Stuttgart
No other work by Johann Sebastian Bach fascinates as many people around the world as the famous St. Matthew Passion BWV 244. On Palm Sunday, March 24 at 5 pm, the Stuttgart Hymnus Choirboys will perform the Passion music together with the Handel's Company Early Music Orchestra under the direction of Rainer Johannes Homburg in the Stiftskirche. With a large cast of two orchestras and two choirs, Bach traces the story of Jesus' Passion with impressive drama. With their performance of the "St. Matthew Passion BWV 244", the Stuttgart Hymnus Choirboys are following in a long tradition. Like the other great passions by Johann Sebastian Bach, this work has always been part of the core repertoire of German boys' choirs and exudes an unbroken fascination when performed with young voices. The soloists are Alice Fuder (soprano), Sarah Romberger (alto), Andreas Post (tenor, Evangelist & arias), Christoph Schweizer (bass, Christ) and Johannes Held (bass, arias).
