Three people have managed to break out of their precarious backgrounds. But the story of their mothers, their parents, won't let them go. Plagued by the fear of becoming poor again, they cling desperately to the magnificent chandelier so as not to slide back down into the abyss without a safety net. They accuse society of not sufficiently appreciating their parents' hard work and long history of immigration. With their powerful voices, they demand a world in which their situation is recognized and call for collective action.
